TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to receive Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday, August 3, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. local time.
PM Charnvirakul's arrival in Jakarta today was confirmed by Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya to reporters in Jakarta on Monday.
"This afternoon, Thai Prime Minister Charnvirakul will arrive in Jakarta and will be received by President Prabowo at the Merdeka Palace at 4:30 p.m. local time," Cabinet Secretary Teddy said.
This would be PM Charnvirakul's first official visit to Jakarta since he assumed office as Thailand's 32nd Prime Minister in September 2025.
Today's visit is also the first for a Thai PM in 15 years.
During the meeting at the Merdeka Palace, the two leaders are scheduled to launch the Indonesia-Thailand Strategic Partnership Roadmap 2026–2030. The document focuses on three key areas: security, economic development, and socio-cultural development.
Last week, the Thai government approved the Indonesia-Thailand strategic partnership document, which will be valid for the next five years.
At the Merdeka Palace, Thailand's Prime Minister Charnvirakul and President Prabowo will co-chair a leaders' consultation session to discuss various bilateral issues related to security, combating transnational crime, trade, investment, food and energy security, people-to-people relations, and cooperation within ASEAN.
During his meeting with President Prabowo, PM Charnvirakul will be accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sihasak Phuangketkeow. Meanwhile, President Prabowo will be accompanied by members of the Red and White Cabinet, including Foreign Minister Sugiono, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
After his stop at the Merdeka Palace, the Thai PM is slated to attend a Thailand-Indonesia business forum. Prime Minister Anutin is also scheduled to deliver a speech at the ASEAN Secretariat in Jakarta, discussing key themes regarding the future of ASEAN.
PM Charnvirakul's visit to Jakarta will take place on August 3–4, 2026.
