TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto is set to preside over the 80th anniversary commemoration ceremony of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), which will be held at the National Monument (Monas) in Jakarta on Sunday, October 5, 2025. This grand ceremony will feature soldiers from all three branches of the TNI and hundreds of pieces of strategic weaponry.
Head of the TNI Information Center, Brigadier General Freddy Ardianzah, said that the President will act as the inspector at the event. Also present will be the Commander of the TNI, General Agus Subiyanto, and the Minister of Defense, Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin.
"The President of the Republic of Indonesia is planned to directly lead the ceremony as the Inspector, accompanied by the Commander of the TNI, Minister of Defense, Deputy Commander of the TNI, and all branch Chiefs of Staff," Freddy said during a press conference at Monas, Jakarta, on Friday, October 3, 2025.
Freddy ensured that all the preparations were going according to plan through a series of exercises without any obstacles. "Today's rehearsal ran smoothly, safely, and according to the plan, starting from the preparation phase, then the preliminary event, up to the main event, and the parade and demonstrations," he said.
Previously, A video circulated online showing the Indonesian flag tearing during a rehearsal for TNI's 80th anniversary at the National Monument (Monas) in Jakarta. The incident took place during the rehearsal on Thursday, October 2, 2025, amid strong winds. However, Freddy ensured that it was part of the exercise.
Freddy hopes that the TNI anniversary ceremony on October 5 will run optimally. He emphasized the importance of weather support so that all elements of the TNI—ground, naval, and aerial—along with their support components, can demonstrate the full capabilities of their personnel and weaponry.
He explained that this year's TNI anniversary carries the theme TNI Prima, TNI Rakyat, Indonesia Maju (Prime TNI, People's TNI, Advanced Indonesia). The theme depicts the spirit of professionalism and the closeness of the TNI to the people. "Prime TNI, in line with the vision of the TNI Commander, illustrates that on its 80th anniversary, the TNI will always be professional, responsive, integrative, modern, and adaptive," Freddy stated.
People's TNI, he added, is derived from the TNI's identity as the people's army, freedom fighters, professional soldiers, and national soldiers. Meanwhile, Advanced Indonesia reflects the role of the TNI not only in military operations for war but also in non-war military operations to support the national program in advancing Indonesia.
