TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to open the Minerba Convex 2025 event, which will take place from October 15 to 16, 2025, at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC) Senayan, Jakarta. This national forum for the mineral and coal sector is initiated by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) in collaboration with several industry associations in the mining sector.

Rita Susilowati, the Secretary of the Directorate General of Minerals and Coal of the Ministry of ESDM, stated that this event provides an important platform for businesses, the government, and stakeholders to strengthen their collaboration in building a sustainable mining industry.

"The President will be present to open the event, and the Minister of ESDM will also accompany," said Rita at a press conference at the Directorate General of Minerals office, South Jakarta, on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.

Rita hopes that the Minerba Convex 2025 event can encourage industry players to develop an inclusive and sustainable mining sector. She mentioned that the mining industry has a direct impact on both the community and the environment. "Therefore, its management must be carried out responsibly and transparently through good mining practices," said Rita.

The Chair of the Minerba Convex 2025 Committee and Vice Chairman of the Indonesian Mining Experts Association (Perhapi), Resvani, explained that this event involved several major associations in the mining sector, including the Indonesian Coal Mining Entrepreneurs Association, IMA, Aspebindo, Perhapi, MGEI, APNI, IAGI, and Aspindo.

He emphasized that the mineral and coal sector not only involves mining activities, but also encompasses processing, refining, and trading industries that make a significant contribution to the national economy. "Minerba Convex is organized through cross-association and government collaboration because this sector plays a strategic role in the national economy," said Resvani.

Currently, he continued, the mining sector is one of the main contributors to Indonesia's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Its contribution to the extraction sector alone is about 10 percent. Meanwhile, its contribution from the processing and refining sector is nearly 20 percent, and its contribution from the trading sector is about 13 percent.

"This means that the mining sector is one of the backbones of the national economy," said Resvani.

According to Resvani, the existence of the mining industry plays a strategic role in achieving the national economic growth target. President Prabowo Subianto targets Indonesia's economic growth to reach 8 percent by the end of his term.

Resvani believes that the mining sector will be the main driver of two important components of GDP. "If these two sectors are managed optimally, then the national economic growth will become stronger," he said.
