Manchester United face a tricky start to the season but cannot complain too much, given the one lucky break they've enjoyed for nine consecutive seasons.

The Old Trafford club have been fortunate to play every game at home on opening weekend since 2016.

United face Arsenal on the first weekend this time in a Sunday kick-off at 4:30 - which is by far the most high-profile encounter this time around but at least they have home comforts yet again.

In fact, the last time they had to travel for their week one fixture was under Jose Mourinho's tenure.

That was against Bournemouth in a 3-1 victory down on the south coast.

But after that, Old Trafford played host to eight in a row on the opening weekend, which will become nine in August.

Bruno Fernandes scored a free-kick winner for Man United's home game against Arsenal last season - they begin next term with that fixture at Old Trafford, the ninth opening day home game in succession

NINE IN A ROW:

2025-26 - Man United vs Arsenal

2024-25 - Man United 1-0 Fulham

2023-24 - Man United 1-0 Wolves

2022-23 - Man United 1-2 Brighton

2021-22 - Man United 5-0 Leeds

2020-21 - Man United 1-3 Crystal Palace

2019-20 - Man United 4-0 Chelsea

2018-19 - Man United 2-1 Leicester

2017-18 - Man United 3-1 West Ham

In 2017 there was a comfortable win over West Ham, followed by a 2-1 victory over Leicester the following season and 4-0 triumph over Chelsea in 2019.

Crystal Palace came away from Old Trafford with a 3-1 win in 2020, before there was a hammering of old rivals Leeds 5-0 the next year.

In 2022, Brighton came away with a 2-1 win before beating Wolves 1-0 the campaign after that.

Last season, United scraped past Fulham 1-0 in their opener so it has been a bit of a mixed bag in terms of results at Old Trafford over the last eight seasons.

Ruben Amorim's men would dearly love to launch into the new season with a victory over the Gunners, which in addition to be a real statement of intent, would relieve pressure on the manager.

Amorim is under big pressure to show an upturn in form at United having presided over one of the worst seasons in club history.

The Portuguese boss, who took over from Erik ten Hag, led United to 15th in the Premier League and lost the Europa League final against Tottenham.

EVERY TEAM'S 2025-26 FIXTURES

He will be bolstered by new signings, with Matheus Cunha already through the door and Bryan Mbeumo potentially also arriving this summer, while there is interest in signing a new striker, too.

It will be fascinating to see how they line up against Arsenal and whether next year the fixture list throws them a 10th home game opener in a row.
