TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian A-list actor Reza Rahadian’s debut film Pangku made a remarkable entry into the international stage, clinching four prestigious awards at the 30th Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) 2025.
The honors included the KB Vision Audience Award, FIPRESCI Award, Bishkek International Film Festival–Central Asia Cinema Award, and the Face of the Future Award.
Reza, accompanied by producer Arya Ibrahim and the Pangku team, attended the festival in Busan, South Korea, on Thursday, September 25, to personally receive the accolades.
According to the BIFF official website, the KB Vision Audience Award is presented to the most popular Asian film in the “Vision” segment, as voted by audiences. The award comes with a cash prize of 20 million won, sponsored by KB Kookmin Bank.
The FIPRESCI Award, granted by the International Federation of Film Critics, recognizes Asian films in the Vision category that display exceptional artistry and innovation.
Meanwhile, the Bishkek International Film Festival–Central Asia Cinema Award, supported by the Kyrgyz Republic’s Department of Cinematography under the Ministry of Culture, Information, and Youth Policy, offers 10 million won to a standout Asian film in the same category.
Completing the list, the Face of the Future Award, sponsored by Thailand’s Alternative Universe Co., Ltd., also carries a 10 million won prize, honoring films that represent the future of Asian cinema.
Claresta Taufan Named Rising Star at BIFF 2025
The film’s lead actress, Claresta Taufan, added to Pangku’s success by receiving the Rising Star Award at the Marie Claire Asia Star Awards, a program under BIFF, on September 18, 2025.
The accolade, launched in 2012, highlights emerging actors in Asia and supports the growth of regional cinema.
“I never dreamed in my life that I would be standing here and receiving my first award,” Claresta said in an emotional acceptance speech, shared through producer Arya Ibrahim’s Instagram account.

Pangku Premieres in Busan
Pangku premiered on Friday, September 20, 2025, at Lotte Cinema Centum City 5, Busan, with screenings running until September 25.
“I am happy to return to Busan and celebrate Asian cinema with fellow filmmakers from across the world. This year is particularly meaningful because my directorial debut is not only screening but also competing in the Vision Asia program,” said Reza Rahadian.
The film’s journey has been a long one. Pangku first earned the White Light Post-Production Award at the JAFF Future Project (JFP) 2024, before being selected for the 23rd Hong Kong–Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF23).
It went on to win a spot in the HAF Goes to Cannes Program, leading to its presentation at the Marché du Film during the 2025 Cannes Film Festival.
The film was also showcased at Far East in Progress, Focus Asia 2025 during the Far East Film Festival and secured post-production funding from the Red Sea Film Foundation.
Produced by Gambar Gerak, a company founded by Reza and Arya Ibrahim, Pangku was co-produced by Arya and Gita Fara. The screenplay was penned by Reza together with writer Felix K. Nesi. The cast features Claresta Taufan, Fedi Nuril, Devano Danendra, and veteran actress Christine Hakim.
Pangku is set for theatrical release in Indonesia starting November 6, 2025.
