TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s largest private bank, PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BCA), has named Robert Budi Hartono as its ultimate controlling shareholder following the death of former controlling shareholder Bambang Hartono.

BCA Corporate Secretary Rudy Budiardjo said Bambang Hartono was a shareholder of PT Dwimuria Investama Andalan (DIA), the holding company that ultimately controls BCA, which is listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) under the ticker code BBCA.

Following Bambang’s death, the controlling shareholders of PT DIA changed from Bambang Hartono and Robert Budi Hartono to Robert Budi Hartono alone.

Rudy said Robert Budi Hartono’s ownership stake in PT DIA remained unchanged at 51 percent of the company’s issued and paid-up capital.

“As a result, the ultimate controlling shareholder of the company is now Mr. Robert Budi Hartono,” Rudy said in an information disclosure submitted to the IDX on Friday, July 31, 2026.

The change has also been recorded with the Financial Services Authority (OJK). Rudy said the OJK confirmed the update through a letter dated July 29, 2026, regarding BCA’s ultimate ownership structure.

He added that the change would not have a material impact on BCA’s operations, legal status, financial condition, performance, or business continuity.

“The disclosed information and facts do not have a material impact on the company’s operational activities, legal matters, financial condition, performance, or business continuity,” Rudy said.

Robert Budi Hartono’s Background

Robert Budi Hartono, whose Chinese name is Oei Hwie Tjhong, was born in Semarang, Central Java, on April 28, 1941. He graduated from the Faculty of Economics and Business at Diponegoro University.

He is married to Widowati Hartono, and the couple has three children: Victor Hartono, Martin Hartono, and Armand Hartono.

Robert Budi Hartono and his brother Bambang Hartono are widely known as key figures behind the Djarum business group and among Indonesia’s wealthiest individuals.
