TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) commemorates its 80th anniversary at the National Monument (Monas) field in Central Jakarta on Sunday, October 5, 2025. President Prabowo Subianto acted as the inspector of the ceremony.
Several guests attended the event, including the 6th President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), and a number of former Vice Presidents: Tri Sutrisno, Jusuf Kalla, Budiono, and Ma'ruf Amin, as well as the Chair of the People's Consultative Assembly Ahmad Muzani, and the Chair of the People's Representative Council Puan Maharani.
On stage, Prabowo was welcomed by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming, the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, and other dignitaries. As the inspector of the ceremony, the President led the official procession, which included a troop inspection, paying homage, a moment of silence, a speech, and a command report. This segment was the core of this year's military commemoration.
"Thank you for your dedication, thank you to all," said Prabowo while inspecting the troops at Monas, Central Jakarta, on Sunday, October 5, 2025.
Prabowo was accompanied by the Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces, General Agus Subiyanto, the Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, the Deputy Commander General Tandyo Budi Revita, and all the heads of the military staff.
Observing Tempo, the entourage departed from the Merdeka Palace at 07:55 AM and arrived at Monas at 08:05 AM, where they were welcomed by a combined formation of special forces such as the Special Forces (Kopassus), the Rapid Response Forces (Kopasgat), and the Marine Corps. Upon arrival, Prabowo headed to the honor podium.
Following the official procession, the program continued with demonstrations of the soldiers' capabilities and military equipment. Aerial displays, armored vehicle maneuvers, military martial arts, kamikaze drone demonstrations, building assaults, and Victory Jump parachuting adorned the sky and the Monas field. The military session concluded with a three-branch force parade and a ground and aerial equipment parade.
In the afternoon, the public enjoyed a popular entertainment stage featuring performances by several national musicians, such as NDX AKA, Dewi Perssik, and Wali. The Indonesian National Armed Forces also organized various activities for the attending public. The committee provided free meals, basic food packages, and door prizes, ranging from motorcycles, refrigerators, to televisions.
This year's 80th anniversary celebration of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) is the grandest in recent years. The TNI deployed approximately 133,000 personnel and 1,047 military equipment for the event's festivities and parade.
