TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Transportation Office (Dishub) advises the public to avoid areas potentially affected by protests, particularly the Parliament Building, General Sudirman Street, Thamrin Road, and the National Monument (Monas) area in Central Jakarta.
In addition to those locations, the public is also advised to be aware of spots that could potentially become gathering points for crowds, including the Proclamation Monument (Tugu Proklamasi), the Jakarta Legal Aid Institute (LBH Jakarta) on Diponegoro Road, and the area in front of SMPN 8 on Pegangsaan Barat Road.
The Head of Jakarta Transportation Office, Budi Awaluddin, stated in an official release on Tuesday that members of the public intending to pass through the area are advised to adjust their travel times and consider alternative routes.
"Our officers are on standby to help regulate traffic and maintain community mobility," said Budi, as quoted by ANTARA. He stated that traffic management measures would be implemented as needed, depending on the conditions and movement of the crowd.
The Jakarta Transportation Office has also deployed 60 officers to anticipate traffic congestion resulting from public protests.
Budi stated that the Jakarta Transportation Agency would continue to monitor the situation and coordinate with the police and relevant agencies to manage traffic.
The public is advised to follow officials' instructions, exercise caution while driving, and use public transportation or alternative routes if traffic conditions change near the event location.
