Kudos to Marvin Bartley and Stenhousemuir. They are rapidly emerging as one of the feelgood stories in Scottish football this season.
Flying high at the top of the Championship, Stenny cemented their five-point lead at the top of the table last weekend thanks to a 1-0 win over Arbroath.
They are unbeaten in the league so far, with six wins and a draw from their opening seven matches. It has been an incredible start from Bartley and his part-time team.
They also knocked Motherwell out of the Premier Sports Cup, with their only defeat in 13 matches in all competitions coming against Hearts in the quarter-finals recently.
Given that the Championship looks to be wide open this season, Stenny have as good a chance as anyone of following up their promotion from League One last term with another to the top flight.
Bartley could easily have been burned from what turned out to be a messy exit from Livingston at the end of last season.
Stenny have taken the Championship by storm under the leadership of Marvin Bartley
Taking charge midway through the campaign, Bartley took the job on the understanding that he would be allowed to rebuild in the Championship once the inevitable had been confirmed with relegation.
But the goalposts were then moved by the hierarchy at Livi when he was then asked to reapply for his own position.
Bartley handed in his resignation and insisted that he had no option but to walk away. Fair play to him for branching out and going his own way as a manager elsewhere.
Stenny look like they could rip up the script in the Championship and defy the odds. Bartley and his players deserve all the plaudits coming their way at the moment.
