1. Fire Breaks Out at Pertamina's Dumai Refinery, Cause Still Unknown

A fire broke out at the Pertamina Refinery Unit (RU) Dumai in Riau Province, Indonesia, on Wednesday night, October 1, 2025.

Agustiawan, Dumai RU Area Manager of Communication, Relations, and Corporate Social Responsibility, stated that the company’s internal firefighting team is currently handling the incident.

According to him, the team is working swiftly to extinguish the fire and isolate the location to prevent it from spreading to other areas. He added that the cause of the fire is still unknown, as Pertamina’s team is focusing on field handling efforts. It is also unclear whether the fire has caused any casualties.

2. Vivo Cancels Pertamina Fuel Purchase After Ethanol Found in Product

Deputy Director of Indonesia's Pertamina Patra Niaga, Achmad Muchtasyar, revealed that PT Vivo Energy Indonesia decided to cancel its plan to absorb base fuel imported by Pertamina.

The announcement came during a hearing with Commission XII of the House of Representatives (DPR), the Directorate General of Oil and Gas, and representatives of private gas station operators on Wednesday, October 1, 2025.

Achmad said that initially two private operators, Vivo and APR—the joint venture of BP and AKR—had expressed interest in buying Pertamina’s imported base fuel. An agreement was even reached on Friday, September 26. However, both companies withdrew after testing the product.

3. Jakarta Offers Special Public Transport Fare of Rp80 for TNI Anniversary

The Jakarta Provincial Government will provide a discounted fare of Rp80 on public transportation during the 80th Anniversary of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) on Sunday, October 5, 2025. Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung Wibowo said the discount is a form of appreciation for the TNI institution in commemoration of its establishment.

According to Pramono, the discounted fares will apply to public transportation managed by the Jakarta Provincial Government, namely Transjakarta, MRT Jakarta, and LRT Jakarta. "All will be subject to an Rp80 fare," said Pramono in a written statement on Thursday, September 2, 2025.

Additionally, car-free day on October 5 will proceed as normal, Pramono said. At the same time, TNI will hold the 80th anniversary commemoration at the National Monument, or Monas, Central Jakarta.
