BMKG Forecasts Heavy Rain, Strong Winds for Parts of Greater Jakarta

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has issued a warning for residents of Jakarta and surrounding areas (Greater Jakarta) to be prepared for increased rain intensity, ranging from moderate to heavy, this afternoon and evening, February 14, 2025. Heavy rain, potentially accompanied by strong winds, is expected in South Jakarta, East Jakarta, Bekasi City and Regency, and Bogor Regency.

According to the agency's weather forecast released on Thursday at 19:00 WIB (Western Indonesia time), light rain is possible this afternoon and evening in North Jakarta, Central Jakarta, and West Jakarta. Moderate rain is also predicted for East Jakarta and South Jakarta during the same period. The Thousands Islands are expected to be sunny and cloudy in the morning and afternoon, becoming cloudy towards 19:00 WIB.

The agency detected the possibility of light rain in Bekasi Regency this afternoon and evening. This rain could intensify to moderate levels. Bekasi City is predicted to be sunny and cloudy from morning to midday, with a chance of light rain in the afternoon.

Light rain is forecast for Depok City, Tangerang City, and Tangerang Regency this afternoon and evening. South Tangerang City experienced light rain earlier, from yesterday evening until early this morning.

In Bogor Regency, the BMKG also predicts light to moderate rain from noon to this afternoon. Bogor City is likely to experience rain only in the evening.
