Central Java Tax Office Blocks 199 Bank Accounts

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Regional Office of the Directorate General of Taxation (DJP) for Central Java II has blocked the bank accounts of 199 taxpayers who owe a combined Rp 109.4 billion in unpaid taxes. This enforcement was executed across 12 Tax Service Offices (KPP) throughout the region.

"The freezing of these 199 accounts took place simultaneously on April 7, 2026, involving all 12 Tax Service Offices (KPP) under the jurisdiction of the DJP Central Java II," said the Head of Kanwil DJP Central Java II, Teguh Budiharto, to reporters in Solo on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.

Teguh explained that the blocking involved the State Tax Auctioneer (JSPN) in tandem with 21 financial institutions in the Jakarta and Tangerang banking sectors. According to him, this step is part of law enforcement aimed at securing the 2026 state revenue targets by clearing outstanding tax receivables.

"This action is a follow-up stage after various persuasive efforts were made. Previously, DJP issued Warning Letters up to Compulsory Letters to the taxpayers involved," he said.

Furthermore, he stated that the account blocking is a measure to secure assets in accordance with the Finance Ministerial Regulation (PMK) Number 61 of 2023 regarding Tax Collection Procedures. "Our goal is to ensure assets are not transferred so that state receivables can be settled immediately," said Teguh.

Teguh added that this policy aims to deter non-cooperative taxpayers and ensure fairness for those who have fulfilled their obligations. Citing Article 29 and Article 30 of PMK 61/2023, DJP has the authority to request bank account blocks. Banks are then obliged to freeze funds equal to the debt and collection costs based on the listed identities.

However, the DJP still offers a path to settlement for affected taxpayers. Based on Article 33 of the same regulation, account freezes can be lifted if the taxpayer pays the full debt and collection costs or provides guarantees.

"For taxpayers who cannot settle the entire debt at once, there is an option for installment payments and [the option to] request a reduction in administrative sanctions in accordance with the provisions," said Teguh.

The DJP Central Java II urges all affected taxpayers to coordinate with their registered Tax Service Offices to expedite the clarification and settlement of their tax obligations.
