TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The latest Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA VI) trailer has racked up nearly 66 million views since Rockstar Games released it on YouTube on Tuesday, May 6.
The New York-based developer clarified that the footage circulating online was taken directly from gameplay on a PlayStation 5 console, not separately animated.
"Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 2 was captured entirely in-game from a PlayStation 5, comprised of equal parts gameplay and cutscenes.," tweeted the X Rockstar Games account on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.
Rockstar Games previously announced that the new open-world action simulation game would be released on May 25, 2026, delayed from September 2025. The management apologized while ensuring that this decision was made to meet the high expectations of fans.
In the second trailer, including the one shown on the official Rockstar Games website, there are clips of events and moments experienced by the main and supporting characters.
In addition to daily interactions around the residence and bar, there are also clips of a robbery involving the male main character, Jason Duval, and the female main character,
Lucia marks a milestone as the first female protagonist in the GTA series, which has historically focused on white and Black male leads.
GTA VI also appears to follow the multi-character format seen in GTA V, where players could switch between Michael De Santa, Franklin Clinton, and Trevor Philips. The upcoming installment promises expanded open-world gameplay and new AI-driven features.
