TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Director General of Immigration at the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Affairs, Hendarsam Marantoko, responded to the Corruption Eradication Commission's (KPK) sting operation (OTT), the Head of the Immigration Office in West Jakarta, Ronald Arman Abdullah. Hendarsam stated that the Immigration DG supports the KPK's steps in investigating alleged violations in immigration.
He expressed readiness to support if the KPK develops similar cases in other regions. "Our doors are wide open if the KPK wants to develop the case. I fully support the KPK," said Hendarsam when confirmed by Tempo on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.
The KPK Spokesperson, Budi Prasetyo, previously stated that the capture operation related to alleged handling of documents for foreigners. One of the parties arrested is the Head of the West Jakarta Immigration Office, Ronald Arman Abdullah. "One of them is the Head of the West Jakarta Immigration Office," said Budi to reporters at the Red and White Building of the KPK in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Wednesday, June 3, 2026.
Budi explained that the KPK team started the sting operation on the night of Tuesday, June 2, 2026, in West Jakarta. "In the process, dozens of people were arrested in this capture operation," he said.
In addition to detaining several individuals, the KPK seized several vehicles, cash in Indonesian rupiah and other foreign currencies, and gold bullion. According to Budi, the sting operation is related to the process of handling immigration documents for foreigners who want to reside in Indonesia.
He gave examples of documents such as Limited Stay Permit Card (KITAS) and Permanent Stay Permit Card (KITAP). However, Budi has not yet explained whether the alleged cases are related to bribery or extortion. According to him, the KPK is still investigating the case.
On Wednesday, the KPK team also operated in Bali and West Java. "This is still related to the immigration process. Usually, these processes exist in several points," said Budi.
Based on Tempo's observation, three black cars suspected to have carried officials from the West Jakarta Immigration Office entered the KPK's Red and White Building at around 10:05 am local time. The figure inside the vehicle was not visible because the car directly entered the basement area.
Budi also did not answer whether the case is related to online gambling in the Hayam Wuruk area involving 320 foreigners. He said he has not received information about it yet.
