TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Team captain James Rodriguez and Bayern Munich winger Luis Diaz will lead Colombia squad for the 2026 World Cup.
Colombia national team coach Nestor Lorenzo officially announced the 26-man squad for La Tricolor's 2026 World Cup on Monday (May 26).
Colombia is returning to the World Cup after failing to qualify for the 2022 edition in Qatar. This tournament marks the South American nation's seventh appearance at the finals.
James Rodriguez, who won the Golden Boot at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, is entrusted with leading Colombia's experienced squad. The team also features several players with European careers, including Crystal Palace duo Daniel Muñoz and Jefferson Lerma.
Colombia secured their place in the World Cup after an impressive South American qualifying campaign. Lorenzo's team is now determined to improve on their best World Cup finish, reaching the quarterfinals in 2014.
As part of their preparations, Colombia will hold a training camp in Bogota before playing two friendlies against Costa Rica on June 2 and Jordan on June 8.
After that, Colombia will begin their Group K campaign against Uzbekistan on June 18. They are also scheduled to face the Democratic Republic of the Congo (June 24) and Portugal (June 28) in the group stage.
