
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Metropolitan Police, together with the Indonesian National Army (TNI) and the Public Order Agency (Satpol PP), conducted the Berantas Jaya 2025 Operation on Tuesday night, May 13, 2025. The Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Grand Commissioner Ade Ary Syam Indradi, stated that a total of 734 personnel were deployed in this operation.
"534 personnel are in open deployment, while 200 are undercover, targeting thuggery that has been disturbing the public," he said when encountered at the Kembangan Police Sector, West Jakarta, on Tuesday night, May 13, 2025.
According to Tempo's observation, hundreds of personnel conducted a preparatory briefing at 9.30 PM at the Kembangan Police Sector field in West Jakarta. The briefing was led by the Head of Operational Affairs of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Grand Commissioner I Ketut Gede Wijatmika.
During the briefing, Ketut stated that in this operation, the involved personnel would be divided into several points, with each group being led by a commander. He also instructed the combined hundreds of personnel to take action against any form of thuggery that disrupts public activities.
"We are aware of the emerging issues, namely the disturbance caused by thuggery. The state must be present among the people," he said.
In heavy rain, the combined hundreds of personnel departed to their respective patrol locations at 9.37 PM.
Meanwhile, the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Chief Inspector General Karyoto has instructed his subordinates to conduct an operation to tackle thuggery in Jakarta and its surrounding areas. This operation will take place for fifteen days from May 9 to May 23, 2025.
Karyoto has deployed 999 personnel, consisting of 663 police officers, 306 TNI soldiers, and 30 personnel from the Jakarta Provincial Government for this operation.
