TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - It is the era of pop groups as BTS and KATSEYE prove their worth among the high status of other American Music Awards winners. Held in Las Vegas on May 25, 2026, the 52nd annual ceremony celebrated artists from across the world, with trophies handed out in dozens of categories spanning pop, hip-hop, country, R&B, Latin, K-pop, Afrobeats, and Americana/folk music.
Even after stepping away from group activities for military service, BTS made a triumphant return at the 2026 American Music Awards by winning Artist of the Year for the second time since first claiming the title in 2021. The K-pop superstars also picked up Song of the Summer for “Swim” and Best Male K-Pop Artist, bringing BTS’ total career tally at the American Music Awards to 14.
After months of rapid global success, KATSEYE delivered one of the biggest breakout moments of the 2026 American Music Awards by taking home three major trophies at the ceremony. The group won New Artist of the Year after surpassing fellow nominees Alex Warren and Olivia Dean, while also securing Best Music Video for “Gnarly” and the Breakthrough Pop Artist award, completing an impressive triple-crown achievement.
By the end of the 2026 American Music Awards, Bruno Mars, BTS, Cardi B, Sabrina Carpenter, KATSEYE, Sombr, and the vocal performers behind fictional girl group HUNTR/X, EJAE, Rei Ami, and Audrey Nuna, emerged as the night’s biggest winners with three awards each.
