TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Deputy Minister of Manpower Afriansyah Noor commented on the planned labor protest in front of the House of Representatives building today, stating that the demonstration is a constitutional right to freedom of assembly and expression.

"As long as the protest is conducted in an orderly and peaceful manner, it will certainly not be prohibited," Afriansyah said in a statement on Monday, September 22, 2025.

The protest, organized by the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI) and the Labor Party, is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time.

According to Said Iqbal, President of KSPI and the Labor Party, more than 5,000 workers from KSPI, KSPSI AGN, and the Labor Party across the Greater Jakarta area are expected to participate.

The workers' demonstration will focus on three key demands:

  1. Upholding civilian supremacy

  2. Expediting the creation of a Manpower Bill

  3. Abolishing the outsourcing system and rejecting low wages

In response to these demands, Deputy Minister Afriansyah stated that the Manpower Bill has already been included in the national legislative program for 2026. While acknowledging that the House of Representatives is the initiator of the bill, he added, "Even though the initiator is the DPR, the Ministry of Manpower is ready to collaborate and seek guidance from the DPR."

Afriansyah further assured that his ministry will undertake a thorough study and consult with all relevant stakeholders, including labor unions, employers, and academics. "Hopefully, there will be a solution for labor unions, employers, and stakeholders involved," he concluded.
