TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Megawati Hangestri, an Indonesian women's volleyball star, has earned another accolade in the South Korean V-League. The Red Sparks player has been named the best player of the fourth round of the 2024-2025 season.

Megawati topped the V-League journalists' poll, receiving 21 out of 31 votes. This placed her ahead of Giselle Silva (GS Caltex), who received 17 votes, and Kim Yeon-koung (Pink Spiders), who received only two.

This is Megawati's third-best-player award in the V-League. She also won the award in the third round of this season, and once last season, in the first round. This achievement makes her the first non-Korean player to win the MVP title three times in the women's V-League.

Megawati's outstanding performance in the fourth round earned her this recognition. She scored 186 points, the second-highest total, trailing only Giselle Silva's 244 points. Her attack success rate of 50 percent was also the second-best among all female players in the league.

Her contributions have been crucial to Red Sparks' 13-game winning streak. This streak surpassed the team's previous record of eight consecutive wins during the 2008-2009 season.

Through four rounds, Megawati is the third-highest scorer in the women's V-League, with a total of 590 points. She trails only Victoria Danchak (IBK Altos, 648 points) and Giselle Silva (GS Caltex, 613 points).

With an average of 4.5 points per set, Megawati is a key player in Red Sparks' attack. Her consistent play has helped her team reach third place in the standings, with 17 wins and 7 losses in 24 matches. Currently, they are just three points behind Hyundai E&C Hillstate, who are in second place, giving Red Sparks a good chance to climb higher in the rankings.

Megawati's journey in this season started rather slowly. In the first and second rounds, her teammate, Vanja Bukilic, outperformed her. The Best Player award for those rounds went to South Korean volleyball legend, Kim Yeon-koung. Megawati earned her first award in the third round, and now she has solidified her position with another win in the fourth round.

The MVP award ceremony will take place on February 2, 2025, during the Red Sparks' match against the Pink Spiders at the Incheon Samsan Gymnasium.
