TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo stated that the level of corruption in Indonesia is already very alarming. Prabowo mentioned that corruption is the root cause of regression in various sectors such as education and development.
Therefore, the Head of State is committed to using his authority to eradicate corruption. "The level of corruption in my country is very alarming. And that is why I am determined to use all the energy, all the authority given to me by the constitution to try to overcome this disease," said Prabowo in the international forum World Governments Summit 2025, conducted via a video conference monitored on the President's Secretariat's Youtube on Friday, February 14, 2025.
The Chairperson of the Gerindra Party is convinced that his commitment to eradicating corruption is supported by various parties. Prabowo also claimed to have the majority of the public on his side. This is reflected in the public satisfaction survey during 100 days of his government's work.
"And now, after 100 days, I feel that the majority of my people are now supporting me. They got the message because they suffer every day from this corruption" he said.
According to Prabowo, clean, good governance is the key to eradicating corruption. One of his actions was to save a budget of US$20 billion in the first 100 days of his government's work. In doing so, Prabowo admitted that he faced resistance from the long-established bureaucratic system.
"I'm facing resistance from the entrenched bureaucracy. Some of them consider themselves untouchable," Prabowo said.
Nevertheless, Prabowo remains steadfast in his stance. He is not hesitant to eradicate corruption. "So I think this will be my motto. After 100 days, I have not begun my struggle. And I am confident that we will make significant progress," said Prabowo.
World Governments Summit 2025 is an annual meeting held since 2013 in Dubai, aimed at encouraging innovative international collaboration to advance sustainable global governance and economic development.
There are several events at this summit. One of them is the Economic Forum held from February 11-13, 2025 in Dubai, UEA. In this forum, Indonesia was represented by the Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto.
