
TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto aims to ensure that Indonesian fruit and fisheries products meet international standards to enter the Australian market.
This aspiration was conveyed by Prabowo when receiving a visit from Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, on Thursday, May 15, 2025. He expressed his interest in involving Australia to enhance the capabilities of Indonesian farmers and SME entrepreneurs.
"We will also work to ensure that Indonesian fruits and fisheries products meet international market standards, including Australia's," said Prabowo.
Prabowo also seeks to collaborate with Australia in Indonesia's agricultural and fisheries industries. They also discussed opportunities for cooperation in the field of food security.
According to Prabowo, Indonesia invites Australia to become more involved in the Indonesian economy. He emphasized that this collaboration needs to be strengthened amidst the current global economic uncertainty.
"In a time of global economic uncertainty, the relationship between Australia and Indonesia is becoming increasingly important. It will bring more benefits to our two countries and our people," he remarked.
President Prabowo Subianto welcomed Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, marking his first foreign official visit after being re-elected in the general election.
The head of state personally greeted Albanese in the palace's front yard. Subsequently, Prabowo introduced members of the Red and White Cabinet to Albanese.
Among the members of the Red and White Cabinet present were Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto; State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi; Minister of Research and Technology Brian Yuliarto; Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid; Foreign Minister Sugiono; State-Owned Enterprises Minister Erick Thohir; Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian; Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia; and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
