TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to receive a visit from Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Sunday, May 25, 2025.
Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said that Li Qiang will arrive in Jakarta on Saturday, May 24. "Yes, Premier Li Qiang will come to Indonesia," he told the media crew in Jakarta on Friday, May 23.
Premier Li Qiang will then meet Prabowo the following day, but the president's aide did not yet disclose the meeting location.
As reported by Antara, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi previously stated that Chinese Premier Li Qiang plans to embark on a state visit to Indonesia.
Minister Wang Yi conveyed this during the China-Indonesia First Ministerial Level 2+2 Meeting, along with Chinese Defense Minister Dong Jun, Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono, and Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin.
Wang Yi said that Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is the rotating chair of ASEAN and will host the ASEAN-GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council)-China Summit. "We support this positive initiative of Malaysia, but we also want to maintain and promote China-Indonesia cooperation. Hence, if possible, Premier Li Qiang will visit Indonesia," Wang Yi said.
This visit marks the first visit by Premier Li Qiang after President Prabowo Subianto took office.
Premier Li Qiang last visited Indonesia on September 5, 2023, to attend the series of ASEAN Summit, ASEAN-China Summit (10+1), ASEAN Plus Three (APT) Summit, and East Asia Summit.
