TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Goals from Raphinha and Fermin Lopez gave Barcelona a 2-0 victory over Athletic Club in the second week of the 2026/27 La Liga at Camp Nou Stadium on Friday morning Indonesian time.
As reported by ANTARA, Raphinha opened the scoring for Barcelona in the first half, while Fermin Lopez doubled the lead after the break.
According to the La Liga website, this victory puts Hansi Flick's team at the top of the standings with six points, only ahead of Real Madrid in second place, who have the same number of points.
Barcelona immediately took an aggressive approach from the start. Lamine Yamal had the first chance in the 11th minute, cutting in from the right flank. However, his left-footed shot went wide.
Yamal threatened again in the 19th minute. After receiving the ball from Raphinha, the Barcelona youngster cut inside before unleashing a curling shot. Athletic goalkeeper Unai Simon made a brilliant save to thwart the opportunity.
Barcelona finally broke the deadlock in the 37th minute. Pedri delivered a perfect through ball that Raphinha tapped in. The Brazilian player skipped past a fallen Simon before slotting the ball into an empty net from a tight angle. Barcelona led 1-0 at halftime.
Entering the second half, Barcelona continued to dominate the game. Fermin Lopez nearly doubled the lead in the 62nd minute with a powerful volley from inside the penalty area. However, Simon again showed excellent reflexes to secure the ball.
Shortly after, Barcelona made a substitution. Rodri replaced Raphinha in the 63rd minute. The match marked Rodri's debut for Barcelona after joining from Manchester City.
Athletic nearly equalized in the 75th minute. Oihan Sancet fired a shot from the edge of the box after latching onto a loose ball, but the ball hit the right post of Barcelona's goalkeeper, Joan Garcia.
Barcelona finally got their second goal in the 82nd minute. Fermin Lopez capitalized on an error by an Athletic defender who failed to clear a cross from the left properly. Fermin was in the right position to pounce on the ball in front of goal and make it 2-0.
Athletic still avoided conceding a third goal thanks to a brilliant performance from Simon. In the 88th minute, the Spanish national team's goalkeeper blocked Karim Adeyemi's shot from close range.
There were no further goals until the final whistle. Barcelona secured a 2-0 victory and continued their perfect start with two wins from two La Liga matches this season.
