TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police in Jakarta are ready to deploy 100 security personnel for the potential arrival of football player Cristiano Ronaldo.
Sr. Comr. Ronald Sipayung, Head of Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Soetta) Police, stated that the security personnel are prepared to assist with Ronaldo's travel, should he pass through the airport, in relation to his planned humanitarian mission in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
"The Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police have prepared 100 personnel for security, in case Cristiano Ronaldo passes through Soetta Airport," he said, on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, as reported by Antara.
Although Ronaldo's arrival in Indonesia through the international airport in Tangerang, Banten, has not been confirmed, the police are ready to deploy officers for VIP security.
"The security for Cristiano Ronaldo's arrival will be carried out as usual [security for VIP], with no special treatment or additional personnel beyond the prepared 100," he said.
As of now, the exact time and location of Ronaldo's arrival remain uncertain. According to the expected schedule, Cristiano Ronaldo is predicted to arrive in the country via Halim Perdana Kusuma Airport or Soekarno-Hatta International Airport using a private jet on Tuesday morning, February 18, 2025.
Subsequently, on Wednesday morning, February 19, 2025, Cristiano Ronaldo's entourage is scheduled to continue their journey to Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, for a humanitarian mission.
Ronald urged all members of the public, especially air passengers, to help maintain order if Cristiano Ronaldo arrives at Soetta Airport.
"Let us together make Soetta Airport a safe and comfortable common home, and maintain order to welcome Indonesia Emas," he said.
