TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has called for the involvement of professional individuals as ad hoc judges in the prosecution of the acid attack case against human rights activist Andrie Yunus. His aim, he said, is to maintain public trust and uphold the dignity of the law.
He stated that the government is committed to strengthening the judicial system in order to uphold the principles of justice. "Therefore, the direct involvement of professionals with a strong track record and integrity as ad hoc judges in the trial of the acid attack against Andrie Yunus is crucial," he said in a written statement on Thursday, April 9, 2026.
Gibran emphasized that justice in the case involving the Coordinating Deputy of KontraS must truly prevail. He said that the law enforcement process must also be conducted honestly, openly, and accountably.
"We want justice to not only be enforced, but also believed by the public," said the former Mayor of Solo.
The Indonesian Military Police Center (Puspom) of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) stated that they have transferred the case files of the four suspects in the attempted premeditated murder case against activist Andrie Yunus. The Head of the Official Information Center of TNI Headquarters Major General Aulia Dwi Nasrullah stated that the investigators completed the file transfer process to the Military Prosecutor's Office on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
"The file transfer, suspects, and evidence of criminal acts have been handed over to the Military Prosecutor's Office II-07 Jakarta, for further examination of formal and material completeness of the files," Aulia said in a written statement, Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
He explained that after the files are declared complete, the legal process will continue at the Military Court II-08 Jakarta. "There are 4 suspects with the initials NDP, SL, BHW, and ES, along with evidence," said Aulia.
Aulia claimed that the file transfer is a commitment of the TNI in carrying out professional, transparent, and accountable law enforcement. "And as a form of firmness in acting against any criminal acts committed by TNI personnel," he said.
The Commander of the TNI Military Police Center, Major General Yusri Nuryanto, stated that the four perpetrators are members of the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS). He mentioned that the four individuals have the initials NDP, SL, BWH, and ES. According to Yusri, the officials have been holding the four suspects at the Guntur Jaya Military Detention Installation since March 18, 2026.
