TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The latest survey by Bank Indonesia (BI) indicates a decline in optimism about job availability. In March 2026, the Job Availability Index (IKLK) score was recorded at 107.8, which is a decrease from 110.7 the previous month.

Although the figure has declined, it remains above 100, which is optimistic. Postgraduate respondents experienced an increase in the index to 128.8 based on their level of education, compared to 101.7 in February 2026. "While respondents with other educational levels experienced a decrease in the index," as stated in the consumer survey released by BI on Friday, April 10, 2026.

The IKLK figure for the bachelor group in the previous month was recorded at 113.5, then dropped to 110.8 in March 2026. A decrease also occurred in the academic and diploma education groups from 113.9 to 111.7. Meanwhile, the IKLK in the high school group declined from 107.9 to 104.8.

The level of confidence in job availability also decreased in most age groups, but remains in the optimistic zone, i.e., above 100. Meanwhile, the age group of 51 years and above is in the pessimistic zone at 98.3.

From May to September of 2025, the job availability index declined to a pessimistic level for five consecutive months. The index began to return to an optimistic level in October 2025, showing an upward trend. However, the IKLK began declining in the March 2026 BI survey.

Meanwhile, Bank Indonesia's data shows that consumers' expectations for job availability in the next six months also decreased. Reflected in the Expectation Index for Job Availability (IEKLK), which dropped from 131.7 to 128.0.

Bank Indonesia's survey also shows that the Consumer Confidence Index in March 2026 decreased to 122.9 from the previous 125.2. The Current Economic Conditions Index and the Consumer Expectations Index have both declined, with each index now at 115.4 and 130.4, respectively.
