TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Warner Bros. reports that tickets for the IMAX 70MM screenings of "Dune: Part Three," scheduled for release on December 18, have sold out in both North America and London.
As reported by Deadline and cited by Antara on Monday, April 6th, for the first time in the franchise's history, "Dune: Part Three" was filmed using IMAX film cameras.
"This incredible result is proof that the fans’ anticipation to experience Dune: Part Three as it was meant to be — on the biggest, boldest screens possible — is at a fever pitch," said Warner Bros. President of Global Distribution, Jeff Goldstein.
Goldstein said Denis Villeneuve's third film will create an unmissable cinematic experience for audiences, whether they are fans of the first two films or discovering the film for the first time.
"We congratulate Denis and our partners at Legendary and Imax on this exciting outcome and look forward to sharing Dune: Part Three with moviegoers everywhere," he said.
According to Deadline, the sold-out season is for the opening weekend (Thursday-Sunday), with one showing per day at 19 IMAX locations. More tickets will go on sale soon for this Legendary-Warner Bros. co-production.
Meanwhile, despite its release date overlapping with Disney/Marvel Studios' "Avengers: Doomsday," "Dune: Part Three" reportedly won't be delayed, especially given the advance ticket sales figures.
Villeneuve co-wrote the screenplay for "Dune: Part Three" with Brian K. Vaughan, based on Frank Herbert's novel "Dune Messiah."
The film stars Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Florence Pugh, Rebecca Ferguson, Isaach De Bankolé, and Charlotte Rampling, along with Anya Taylor-Joy, Robert Pattinson, and Javier Bardem.
Universal and IMAX also ran a pre-sale stunt last summer for Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey," selling tickets for 70MM IMAX screenings a year before its opening weekend (July 16-19, 2026), and some tickets sold out within 12 hours.
