TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Serie A champions Inter Milan closed their title-winning campaign with a 3-3 draw away to Bologna at the Renato Dall’Ara Stadium on Saturday, finishing top of the table with 87 points.
The result secured Inter their 21st Italian league title, ending the season 10 points ahead of runners-up Napoli.
Inter and Napoli both qualified directly for next season’s UEFA Champions League, alongside AS Roma and surprise package Como 1907, who secured the final two Champions League spots with away wins on the final matchday early Monday WIB (Western Indonesia Time).
Roma beat Hellas Verona 2-0 through goals from Donyell Malen and Stephan El Shaarawy, while Como thrashed Cremonese 4-1, powered by a brace from Lucas Da Cunha.
The late surge came after dropped points by AC Milan and Juventus. Milan lost 2-1 at home to Cagliari, while Juventus were held to a 2-2 draw by Torino in the Turin derby.
Roma finished third with 73 points and Como fourth with 71, completing the Champions League zone. Roma will return to Europe’s top competition for the first time in seven years, while Como will make their debut.
Milan ended fifth with 70 points and Juventus sixth with 69, both qualifying for the Europa League. Atalanta, in seventh with 59 points, secured a Europa Conference League place.
Indonesian national team defender Jay Idzes’ club Sassuolo finished 11th in their return season to Serie A, while Emil Audero’s Cremonese were relegated after finishing 18th.
Hellas Verona and Pisa also went down to Serie B, replaced by Venezia, Frosinone, and AC Monza next season.
