Feels like it’s too early in the day to get a Jamie Vardy to Manchester United story… BUT, let’s break it down.

Free, which Ineos like. Premier League Proven, which Ineos like. Bags of experience which could help Benjamin Sesko, which everyone would like. But he’s over the age of 30 and would want decent wages, which Ineos don’t like.

Crucially, United are favouring a fluid attack this season, which is why the U21s are also pivoting towards a false 9 system. Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha are expected to regularly find themselves deployed through the middle, while Marcus Rashford could also play there.

The Championship is more realistic for Vardy with West Ham and Wrexham in the mix for experienced centre forwards. Sheffield Wednesday, who Vardy supports, are monitoring his situation as they look to get out of League One at the first time of asking.
