TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Several social media accounts on Facebook [archived] have circulated a video showing stacks of cash amidst the rubble of a building following an earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Indonesia. The money is alleged to be the proceeds of corruption hidden by Minister of Forestry Raja Juli Antoni.

A video showing stacks of cash amidst rubble circulated widely online—accompanied by Spanish-language captions—after being posted by Instagram accounts @emisarioinformativo, @misionesdiario, and @lineasdenoticias in mid-August 2026. These accounts claimed the money was found in a home affected by a 7.4-magnitude earthquake in Colombia on August 10, 2026. However, the video is a fabrication.
Tempo analyzed the video using the AI detection tool Hive Moderation. The results indicated a 99.4 percent probability that the video was created using AI.
Analysis by the Truth Scan tool also concluded that the video showing the stack of money was artificially generated, with a probability of 91 percent.
Meanwhile, the video clip of Raja Juli's doorstep interview comes from an Instagram post by @pantaucom on Tuesday, August 18, 2026. Journalists asked about the return of the excess funds to the Corruption Eradication Commission.
Tempo previously reported that Raja Juli received an envelope from Kuantan Singingi Regent Suhardiman Amby during a meeting at the Ministry of Forestry office on June 2, 2026. Raja Juli claimed his aide returned the envelope to Suhardiman on June 12, 2026—17 days before the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) conducted a sting operation in Kuantan Singingi Regency. However, there was a discrepancy of SGD 14,000 in the returned funds. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that the agency is still investigating the cause of this discrepancy.
