TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono said that the business forum between Indonesia and Belarus discussed economic cooperation that could reach around US$500 million in a meeting held several days earlier.
Sugiono told reporters that the meeting between Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko on Thursday was a follow-up to President Prabowo's visit to Belarus on July 15, 2025, which resulted in a commitment to expand bilateral cooperation.
"If I'm not mistaken, the report was 500 million (US dollars), and I think the two presidents also agreed that the existing figures, both in the trade and investment sectors, are figures that need to be increased for the progress of both countries," said Sugiono, referring to the results of the business forum held on Tuesday, June 30, as quoted by ANTARA.
He said the meeting between Prabowo and Lukashenko could expand the already strong bilateral cooperation between the two countries. This is supported, among other things, by the recent signing of a trade agreement between Indonesia and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), of which Belarus is a member.
In this regard, the two countries launched a roadmap for bilateral relations which covers various strategic sectors.
"This shows that our bilateral relations have entered a new, more intensive phase, if I may say so, from which today a roadmap for bilateral relations in various sectors between Indonesia and Belarus will be launched," said the Foreign Minister.
Several priority areas of cooperation between the two countries include food security and energy. Several agricultural products were discussed, including fertilizer raw materials.
According to Sugiono, President Lukashenko's visit to Indonesia was his second, following his first visit in 2013.
