TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Indonesia’s benchmark stock index, the Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG), moved lower during the trading week of March 23–27, 2026, according to data from the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX).
The IHSG slipped 0.14 percent to close at 7,097, down from 7,106.8 in the previous week.
Market capitalization also declined. “There was also a change in IDX’s market capitalization, which fell by 0.24 percent to Rp12,516 trillion from Rp12,547 trillion the previous week,” IDX said in an official statement on Sunday, March 29, 2026.
Despite the weekly decline in the index, the average daily frequency and value of transactions increased, while average daily trading volume fell compared with the previous week.
The sharpest increase was recorded in the average daily transaction value, which rose 15.27 percent to Rp23.33 trillion from Rp20.24 trillion a week earlier.
Meanwhile, the average daily transaction frequency climbed 9.01 percent to 1.73 million trades, up from 1.59 million in the previous week.
By contrast, the average daily trading volume dropped 4.81 percent to 28.31 billion shares from 29.74 billion shares the week before.
Foreign investors posted a net buy of Rp1.76 trillion at the close of trading last Friday. However, on a year-to-date basis, foreign investors still recorded a net sell of Rp30.88 trillion.
The IHSG’s decline came amid lingering investor doubts over a possible easing of tensions between the United States and Iran.
“Stock indices in Asia closed mixed on Friday, with a weaker bias, in line with growing doubts over de-escalation in the Middle East conflict,” the research team at Phillip Sekuritas Indonesia said, as quoted by Antara.
Globally, expectations of possible negotiations between the U.S. and Iran during the week contributed to heightened market volatility. However, investors remained skeptical of U.S. President Donald Trump’s claim that the war against Iran would end soon.
