TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bank Indonesia (BI) reported that the Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) for July 2026 stood at 116.8, remaining in optimistic territory with an index value above 100. "Bank Indonesia’s Consumer Survey for July 2026 indicates that consumer confidence regarding economic conditions remains resilient," stated Ramdan Denny Prakoso, Executive Director of BI’s Communication Department, in an official statement in Jakarta on Monday, August 10, 2026, as cited by Antara.
The sustained consumer confidence in July 2026 was underpinned by the Current Economic Condition Index (CECI) and the Consumer Expectation Index (CEI), both of which remained in optimistic territory at 107.9 and 125.7, respectively, albeit lower than the previous month's readings of 109.2 and 126.4.
The optimistic CECI reading was supported by the Current Income Index, the Job Availability Index, and the Durable Goods Purchase Index, which stood at 118.5, 101.1, and 104.1, respectively. These figures were lower than the previous month's levels of 119.8, 101.8, and 105.9.
Furthermore, Denny noted that consumer expectations regarding economic conditions over the next six months are projected to remain strong, as reflected by the July 2026 CEI of 125.7, despite being lower than the previous month's index of 126.4.
“The continued strength of the Consumer Expectation Index stems from optimism regarding income expectations, job availability expectations, and business activity expectations, which were recorded at 133.6, 123.1, and 120.4, respectively,” said Denny.
Additionally, the central bank noted that the average proportion of consumer income allocated for consumption stood at 72.7 percent in July 2026, remaining relatively stable compared to the 73.0 percent recorded the previous month.
Meanwhile, the proportion of income allocated for debt installment payments was 10.5 percent, slightly higher than the 10.0 percent recorded the previous month. The proportion of consumer income allocated for savings was recorded at 16.8 percent, remaining relatively stable compared to the 17.0 percent recorded the previous month.
