TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said the government has ensured that fuel prices, both subsidized and non-subsidized, will not increase.

In an official statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday, Prasetyo said the decision was made after the government coordinated with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) and state-owned energy company PT Pertamina, in line with instructions from President Prabowo Subianto.

“President Prabowo always prioritizes the interests of the people and the public in making decisions. That is why Pertamina has stated that it will not make any price adjustments, either for subsidized fuel or non-subsidized fuel,” Prasetyo said.

The statement came amid growing public concern over rumors of a possible fuel price hike.

The government also stressed that national fuel supplies remain safe and sufficient, and urged the public not to panic or become unsettled by speculation over a possible increase in fuel prices.

“We hope that through this statement, the public can obtain clearer and more accurate information. We also hope people do not need to panic or worry because we guarantee fuel availability. We guarantee it, and there will be no price adjustment,” he said.

Prasetyo said the government wanted to make clear that there would be no changes in fuel prices at this time, while also reassuring the public that supply remains secure across the country.

The clarification, he added, was intended to provide accurate information to the public and help ease concerns over the fuel price increase rumors that had circulated in recent days.
