TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said on Monday, April 6, 2026, that his country has prepared a response to the 15-point ceasefire plan proposed by the United States.
However, Baghaei said he would disclose the details in due course.
Baghaei made the remarks at a weekly press conference in Tehran in response to a question about whether there was a new plan between Iran and the US to end the conflict.
Baghaei said that a few days ago, the US 15-point plan had been presented to Iran through intermediaries, including Pakistan and several other "friendly countries."
"At that time, we announced that the plan contains very excessive, unusual and unreasonable demands," he said.
He said that despite the "acceptable" terms, Iran had formulated a series of demands based on its own interests and considerations.
"We knew in advance what we want and what red lines we are not willing to cross, and our positions are clear now. We compiled our responses (to the U.S.-proposed truce plan) from the very beginning when the issue was raised, and will provide information about their announcement and how they will be announced whenever necessary," Baghaei said.
Israel and the US launched a series of attacks across Iran on February 28, killing Iran's then-supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, along with senior military commanders and civilians. Iran retaliated with a wave of missile and drone attacks targeting Israel and US assets in the Middle East.
In an interview with the Wall Street Journal on Sunday, US President Donald Trump threatened to destroy all Iranian power plants if the country's leaders did not agree to reopen the Strait of Hormuz by Tuesday evening.
Additionally, the US, Iran and regional mediators are discussing a possible 45-day ceasefire that could lead to a "permanent end to the war," Axios reported Sunday, citing anonymous sources from the US, Israel and the region.
