TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Lippo Cikarang Tbk. claims the Meikarta Apartment project is not at a standstill. Corporate Secretary of Lippo Cikarang, Peter Adrian, said that more than 60 percent of the units have been completed until March 2025. Meanwhile, the overall construction progress has reached 75 percent.

"Since 2020, PT Mahkota Sentosa Utama (MSU) as the developer has started the handover process of the Meikarta Apartment units that have been completed," said Peter through information disclosure released on the Indonesia Stock Exchange website on Monday, April 21, 2025.

Peter stated that MSU is committed to completing all construction obligations and handover of units, in accordance with the provisions in the legally binding homologation decision. According to him, the estimated number of units to be handed over gradually is around 7,000 apartment units.

"This will be done gradually until July 2027 in accordance with the homologation decision," said Peter. He also conveyed that information related to the estimate of outstanding obligations will continue to be updated and carried out in accordance with the mechanisms and stages set out in the homologation decision.

The Meikarta Apartment project has been questioned by consumers due to uncertainty over the handover of units. Some Meikarta consumers who feel aggrieved have joined the Meikarta Consumer Care Community Association (PKPKM). PKPKM General Chairperson Yosafat Erland mentioned that there are 26 consumers who have joined the association and have experienced losses amounting to IDR 4.5 billion.

"The majority of consumers want a refund, not apartment units," he said.

In response to this issue, Minister of Public Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait, also known as Ara, finally intervened. Ara conveyed that President Prabowo Subianto wants the Meikarta issue to be resolved in accordance with legal principles and justice. The Gerindra Party politician also stated that he has communicated with James Riady to resolve this issue as soon as possible.

"Please pray that we can resolve this Meikarta issue properly," Ara said to reporters on Monday, April 21, 2025, as quoted from Antara.

As a step to resolve the issue, Ara summoned Lippo Group's Boss, James Riady and John Riady, to his office today, Wednesday, April 23, 2025. The summons was made to address the Meikarta issue.

Based on the invitation conveyed by the Public Communication and Media Task Force of the Ministry of PKP to journalists, Ara's meeting with James and John is scheduled to start at 3:30 PM at the Ministry of PKP Office, Wisma Mandiri 2 Building, Central Jakarta. In addition to summoning the developers, Ara invited 30 Meikarta consumer community members to the meeting.
