TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A total of 1,702,500 vehicles have returned to the Greater Jakarta (Jakarta, Bogor, Tangerang, and Bekasi) region from March 11 to 23, 2026, through toll roads managed by the state-owned toll road operator Jasa Marga, said president director Rivan A. Purwantono.

The figure represents the cumulative traffic flow from four main toll gates, namely GT Cikampek Utama (Trans Jawa direction), GT Kalihurip Utama (Bandung direction), GT Cikupa (Merak direction), and GT Ciawi (Puncak direction).

Rivan, in his statement in Jakarta on Tuesday, explained that the number is equivalent to 50.16 percent of the total projection of 3.39 million vehicles expected to return to Greater Jakarta. The returning traffic is dominated from the east (Trans-Java and Bandung) with 696,748 vehicles or 40.9 percent.

Meanwhile, from the west (Merak) there were 568,159 vehicles or 33.4 percent, and 437,593 vehicles or 25.7 percent vehicles from the south (Puncak).

Vehicles coming from the Trans-Java direction passing through GT Cikampek Utama were recorded at 309,156 vehicles, or 15.2 percent lower than normal traffic.

From the Bandung direction passing through GT Kalihurip Utama, 387,592 vehicles were recorded, a 7.1 percent decrease from normal conditions. In total, the flow from the east reached 696,748 vehicles, which is 10.9 percent lower than normal traffic.

From the west, the vehicles returning to Greater Jakarta through GT Cikupa were recorded at 568,159 vehicles, a 4.9 percent decrease from normal conditions. As for from the south through GT Ciawi, 437,593 vehicles were recorded, a 5.6 percent decrease from normal traffic.

Meanwhile, the volume of traffic for the Eid return flow is picking up and expected to "continue increasing during the peak exodus on March 24 and March 28-29," he said as quoted from Antara.

On Monday, March 23, 2026, the number of vehicles returning to Greater Jakarta through the four main toll gates was recorded at 225,293, up by 73.7 percent compared to the normal traffic of 129,695 vehicles.

Significant increases were recorded at GT Cikampek Utama, with 75,837 vehicles, an increase of 197.7 percent compared to normal traffic. Jasa Marga has also strengthened services on several main toll roads by optimizing gate operations, deploying toll road service fleets, and conducting situational traffic diversion as per police discretion.

Additionally, the company has prepared functional lanes to support traffic distribution and to ensure officer readiness. Jasa Marga urges road users to thoroughly prepare for their journey during this return flow period, including ensuring the vehicle and driver are in optimal condition before traveling and obeying traffic rules and field officer instructions.

"To obtain traffic information and assist in travel planning, the public can use the Travoy application and contact the Jasa Marga Call Center at 133," said Rivan.

To avoid traffic congestion, Jasa Marga advises those with flexible schedules to shift their return travel to Greater Jakarta earlier on March 25-27, outside the peak periods. Users are welcome to enjoy a 30 percent toll discount during these dates, on nine Jas Marga-operated toll roads.
