TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto told Japanese business leaders to report any problems directly to him during the Japan-Indonesia Business Forum in Tokyo on Monday, March 30, 2026.
Prabowo expressed Indonesia's commitment to safeguarding investors. "If you have any problems, you can directly complain to me," said Prabowo in Tokyo on Monday, as reported by the Presidential Secretariat.
According to Prabowo, Japanese business leaders can report to him through ambassadors or representatives. "I'm willing to receive complaints," said the Gerindra Party boss.
Prabowo also mentioned that the government has formed a task force responsible for removing investment barriers, known as the "de-bottlenecking task force."
This task force handles business issues, including administrative delays and practices that are detrimental to investors.
Prabowo stated that any company, whether foreign or domestic, can report to this task force. "[Companies] that feel they are facing delays, administrative hurdle, or are being exploited or harassed can go directly to this de-bottlenecking task force," he said.
Furthermore, Prabowo emphasized his government's commitment to maintaining foreign investor confidence. He boasted Indonesia's reputation for never defaulting on debt throughout history.
According to Prabowo, this reputation is Indonesia's asset for attracting investments amid global uncertainty. "Our reputation is very clear, not just for 5, 10, or 15 years," he said, adding that "not once in the history of Indonesia have we ever defaulted."
The business forum event with President Prabowo in Tokyo was co-hosted by by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), Keidanren, the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry, and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin).
Before attending the business forum, Prabowo visited the Imperial Palace of Japan. He met with Japanese Emperor Naruhito and his crown prince, Fumihito, at the palace located in Tokyo. In Japan, President Prabowo is also scheduled to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.
