Teddy Speaks Out on Prabowo's Cabinet Reshuffle

4 hours ago 17

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Cabinet Secretary Lieutenant Colonel Teddy Indra Wijaya remains silent about rumors of a reshuffle within the Red and White Cabinet under President Prabowo Subianto. Teddy refrains from confirming or denying the reports of an upcoming shake-up.

He simply asks the public to await official news regarding the President's aides. "Just wait," Teddy said briefly at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.

When pressed on whether the cabinet reshuffle would take place in April 2026, he refused to provide a clear answer. He only mentioned that President Prabowo would clarify the situation. "Later, the President will explain," he said.

Speculation regarding a cabinet reshuffle has circulated several times since the start of the year. In late January 2026, rumors intensified after Prabowo’s nephew, Thomas Djiwandono, was appointed as the Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia. That appointment naturally left a vacancy in the Deputy Finance Minister post.

The news was later confirmed when the President inaugurated the former Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia, Juda Agung, to fill the role. In effect, Thomas and Juda exchanged positions.

Furthermore, reshuffle rumors surfaced again when another of Prabowo’s nephews, Budisatrio Djiwandono, was tipped to join the cabinet by the Chair of Commission I of the House of Representatives (DPR), Utut Adianto. Utut raised the possibility during a working meeting with the Ministry of Defense and the Indonesian National Armed Forces on Monday, January 26.

Prior to the start of Ramadan 1447 Hijri in February, State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi asserted that there were no plans for a cabinet shake-up. According to him, the reshuffle narrative has been repeatedly dismissed. "There’s no reshuffle," the Gerindra Party politician stated at Gambir Station, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.

At that time, Prasetyo emphasized that the government was focused on ensuring that activities throughout Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr proceeded smoothly. He also stated that the administration was prioritizing efforts to alleviate the economic burden on the public during the holy month, particularly for those in the poor and extreme poverty brackets.

Sultan Abdurrahman contributed to the report.
