TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The digital platform TikTok has expressed its commitment to complying with Indonesia's Government Regulation No. 17 of 2025 on the Organization of Electronic Systems in Child Protection (PP Tunas).

TikTok is committed to complying with the regulation within the transitional period under PP Tunas, including taking appropriate measures related to under-16 accounts following the self-assessment process,” read a statement from TikTok received on Saturday, March 28, 2026, as quoted from Antara.

The platform, which focuses on vertical-format content, also stated that it will continue to consult intensively with the Ministry of Communication and Digital to ensure compliance with applicable regulations in Indonesia.

TikTok then outlined a series of efforts it has undertaken to protect children in the digital space while operating in Indonesia prior to the official implementation of PP Tunas.

This includes proactively removing content deemed to violate TikTok’s Community Guidelines before receiving user reports.

Of the content we remove for violating our rules, 99.1% is proactively removed before it is reported,” TikTok stated.

TikTok further stated, “We also use the most innovative technology to detect accounts that violate our minimum age rules, and suspend accounts identified as non-compliant.”

Regarding the protection of teen accounts' data privacy, TikTok claims to have over 50 preset security, privacy, and safety settings that are automatically enabled.

Concluding its statement, TikTok plans to strengthen its security systems to protect users, and this will certainly be communicated to users in Indonesia as further guidelines become available.

We will continue to engage constructively with Komdigi in the self-assessment process, and expect that the regulation will be applied fairly and consistently across all social platforms,” TikTok concluded.

Previously, on late Friday, March 27, 2026, the government announced that as of one day before the implementation of PP Tunas only two digital platforms, X and Bigo Live, had achieved full compliance with PP Tunas.

Meanwhile, TikTok and Roblox were categorized as platforms that were partially compliant with PP Tunas. The other four platforms—Facebook, Threads, Instagram, and YouTube—has yet to meet the requirements of PP Tunas.
