TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The head of the Army Public Information Office, Brigadier General Donny Pramono, stated there was no deliberate intent in an incident where a unit truck hit a motorcycle in Kalideres, West Jakarta. He maintained that the collision, which caused one fatality, was purely a traffic accident.
"We assert that based on initial indications, there was no deliberate intent in this incident; it was purely a traffic accident," Donny said when contacted on Sunday, April 5, 2026.
He explained that preliminary examination results suggest the accident occurred when the motorcycle attempted to overtake the truck from the left, leading to a collision. "Subsequently, this caused the rider to lose control, resulting in a fall and the casualty," he noted.
However, officials are still awaiting a definitive cause from the ongoing investigation by law enforcement authorities. He expressed hope that the handling of the case by the Police and TNI Military Police will proceed objectively, transparently, and in accordance with applicable laws.
Donny offered his condolences for the victim who died in the incident. "We offer our sympathies to the family of the deceased and pray for their strength and fortitude in facing this tragedy," he said.
As an act of moral responsibility, the Menzikon/CRK Pusziad unit has visited the victims. They have guaranteed assistance with medical expenses for the injured and are working toward an amicable resolution. Unit representatives also paid their respects to the family of the deceased, offered a personal apology, and provided compensation.
A military truck from the Indonesian National Army (TNI AD) unit Kima Menzikon/CRK Pusziad struck a motorcyclist on Friday, April 3, 2026. The incident occurred on Utan Jati Road, Kalideres, West Jakarta, claiming the life of a 50-year-old woman, identified by the initials AM, at the scene.
According to Donny’s statement, the truck was part of a convoy transporting students from Public Elementary School 05 Kalideres. The school had requested the transport for a Scout Student Leadership Basic Training session in the Cisarua area.
He mentioned that the truck driver reported to the authorities immediately after the incident. At present, the driver is undergoing further examination by the Jaya/1 Tangerang Military Police Detachment.
Grand Commissioner Ojo Ruslani, Head of the Law Enforcement Sub-directorate of the National Police Traffic Directorate, provided a chronology of the event. At the time, the TNI convoy was traveling from west to east, the same direction as the motorcycle ridden by K, who was carrying AM as a passenger.
Upon reaching Pasar Segar, the truck hit the motorcycle, which was positioned at the front-left side of the vehicle. "A collision occurred, causing the motorcycle to fall and resulting in the passenger, AM, being killed at the scene," Ojo said when contacted on Sunday, April 5, 2026.
Meanwhile, the motorcycle rider, identified as K, suffered minor injuries and received immediate medical attention. Following treatment, K was allowed to return home, while AM’s body was collected by her family for burial in Garut, West Java.
Ojo stated that the case is being handled in coordination with the TNI Military Police (POM TNI). "Because the incident involves a military vehicle and driver, the case is being managed by POM TNI, with the National Police maintaining close coordination," he added.
The incident gained widespread attention after CCTV footage from the scene circulated on social media. In the video, the second truck in the military convoy appears to strike the motorcycle while in motion.
The footage shows the front of the truck, approaching from behind, hitting the right side of the motorcycle. The bike then swerved and fell after being caught by the truck's body, throwing both the driver and passenger to the ground.
After a brief pause, a resident from across the street is seen running to assist the victims. Meanwhile, the military vehicle that struck the motorcycle continued on its way, followed by three other TNI trucks. This detail drew sharp criticism, as the convoy failed to stop despite a woman lying dying on the side of the road.
