TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi has urged travelers to avoid the peak exodus periods during 2026 Eid Homecoming, which will fall on March 24, 28, and 29.
"We urge the public to return to Jabotabek on March 23, 2026 by utilizing collective leave, or during the period of March 25-27, 2025 by utilizing the Work From Anywhere (WFA) period recommended by the government," he said in a statement in Jakarta on Sunday, March 22, 2026, as quoted from Antara.
Based on calculations from the Jasamarga Tollroad Command Center (JMTC), the peak exodus period is predicted to occur tomorrow with an estimated volume of more than 285,000 vehicles. This is greater than the peak inbound traffic on March 18, 2026, which was 270,315 vehicles.
On a separate occasion, the Head of the Traffic Corps of the Indonesian National Police, Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, stated that there will be three peak exodus periods that travelers should avoid. The first peak exodus period will occur on March 24, 2026, and the second and third peak exodus periods on March 28 and 29, 2026.
"We predict that these three days will be the peaks of the 2026 Eid Homecoming. We urge the public to avoid these peak exodus periods so that the inbound traffic services run safely, comfortably, and with safety," he said.
The President Director of PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk, Rivan A Purwantono, requested road users to cooperate in utilizing the return journey time during the exodus periods by planning their travels better.
"We appeal to all individuals intending to make the return journey to choose the recommended return time by the government," he said.
They also reminded travelers to take advantage of a 30% toll tariff discount during the exodus period for two days, namely on March 26-27, 2026, on nine sections of the Jasa Marga Group Toll Road for continuous travel.
"The goal is the same as recommended by the Minister of Transportation and the Head of the Traffic Corps of the Indonesian National Police, which is to control the distribution of inbound traffic volume and provide a more comfortable journey for the public," he said.
To ensure the readiness of inbound traffic services on the Jasa Marga Group Toll Road, Jasa Marga is strengthening services on several main toll sections by optimizing toll gate operations, deploying toll road service fleets, situational traffic management, and ensuring the readiness of field officers 24 hours a day.
Technological optimization through the Jasamarga Tollroad Command Center (JMTC) continues to be carried out to monitor traffic conditions instantly and support quick and appropriate decision-making, complemented by the dissemination of information through the Travoy Application, Call Center 133, and Radio Travoy FM to assist road users in planning their travels more effectively.
