Yankees rising star revealed to be dating daughter of NFL star who was murdered while protecting her as PDA-packed posts emerge

A new sports power couple has emerged after it was revealed that Yankees star George Lombard Jr is dating the daughter of late NFL icon Sean Taylor.

The 21-year-old shortstop and Jackie Taylor, a Division I volleyball standout for the North Carolina Tar Heels, have been in a relationship since at least January 2025, according to romantic snaps shared on social media.

Internet sleuths discovered pictures of the couple embracing against an ocean sunset in an Instagram post from last year, while another photo showed the pair smiling together on a paddleboard in the water.

Lombard was also seen supporting Taylor from the stands during a UNC volleyball match, sporting a custom sweatshirt emblazoned with her picture on the back.

Taylor featured the Yankees prospect in an Instagram highlight reel titled 'My people,' sharing a Valentine's Day post from 2025 where she wrote: 'I love you.'

However, some posts suggest that the couple may have got together in 2024. They both attended Gulliver Prep in Miami before embarking on their respective careers.

In January 2025, the pair attended an event for the Sean Taylor Legacy Project, which Jackie leads to preserve the memory of her father, during the NFC Championship Game between the Washington Commanders and Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field, posing alongside Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian.

Sean Taylor was a Pro Bowl safety for Washington before he was tragically shot and killed during a burglary at his Florida home in November 2007 at the age of 24.

Jackie has continued her father's athletic excellence on the court, wearing his iconic No. 21 jersey as a junior middle blocker in Chapel Hill.

She recently posted 165 blocks for the Tar Heels, the third-most in a single season in program history, which Lombard proudly reposted to his own followers on Sunday.

The romance comes as Lombard makes his mark in the Bronx, having been promoted to the major leagues from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre following the August trade deadline.
