TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Returning to the global stage, BTS Arirang has set a new benchmark on the Billboard 200. For three weeks, the newly released album has marked BTS’s first multi-week No. 1 on the chart, while also making them the first K-pop group to achieve such a milestone.
For the week ending April 9, Arirang earned 124,000 equivalent album units, driven largely by 71,000 in physical and digital sales, alongside 50,000 streaming equivalent albums and 3,000 track equivalent albums. While the album dipped slightly on the Top Streaming Albums chart from No. 3 to No. 4, its overall performance remains dominant.
The album’s chart-topping run also rewrites history, as the last time a group achieved three weeks at No. 1 was in 2012–2013, when Mumford & Sons’ Babel spent five weeks atop the chart. With Arirang, BTS has surpassed Morgan Wallen’s I’m the Problem at No. 2 and Ye’s Bully at No. 3 to maintain its position, further proving its strong commercial hold.
Nevertheless, BTS is no stranger to topping the charts. Previous releases such as Love Yourself: Her and Love Yourself: Tear reached No. 1 but dropped after just one week. With that in mind, BTS Arirang album stands out as one of the group’s strongest performers to date, with Forbes noting that it has successfully met the “sky-high” expectations surrounding their long-awaited comeback.
