TEMPO.CO, Jakarta Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto inaugurated a number of new officials to assist in the governance on Monday, June 8, 2026 at the State Palace, Jakarta. Among those inaugurated was the new head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN). Here's a summary of the inauguration agenda carried out by Prabowo.

1. Nanik Deyang Inaugurated as BGN Head

Nanik Sudaryati Deyang has been officially appointed as the head of BGN, replacing Dadan Hindayana. This former member of Prabowo's 2019 presidential campaign team previously served as the deputy head of BGN, responsible for the free nutritious meal (MBG) program.

In addition to Nanik, Prabowo also inaugurated two new deputy heads of BGN. They are the former Deputy Head of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency, Agustina Arumsari, and Trenggono who retired early from the TNI. The inauguration of the three new BGN leaders is based on Presidential Decree Number 18/M of 2026.

"That I will be loyal to the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia and will carry out all legislation with the utmost sincerity for my dedication to the nation and the state. That in carrying out my duties, I will uphold the ethics of the position, work to the best of my ability, and with full responsibility," said Prabowo when reciting the oath of office on Monday, June 8, 2026.

BGN Head Nanik Sudaryati Deyang stated that she wants to be cautious in using state budget in managing the free nutritious food project. According to her, financial discipline can be achieved with the assistance of her deputy, Agustina Arumsari.

"I will not make any decisions regarding expenditure if Mrs. Arumsari does not approve," Nanik said after the inauguration.

In addition, Nanik stated that under her leadership, BGN will focus on budget efficiency without reducing the target beneficiaries. "So as not to burden the state budget at this time," she said.

2. Prabowo Inaugurates Said Iqbal as Special Presidential Advisor

In addition to inaugurating the new BGN leader, President Prabowo Subianto also administered the oath of office to the leader of the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions, Said Iqbal. The Labor Party President was assigned as the Special Presidential Advisor for Labor and Worker Welfare.

The inauguration of Said Iqbal was carried out simultaneously with the swearing-in of the three BGN leaders. This inauguration is stated in Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia (Keppres RI) Number 58/P of 2026 concerning the Appointment of Special Presidential Advisors for Labor and Worker Welfare.

After being inaugurated, Said Iqbal stated that he would immediately provide a report and present views on the condition of worker welfare in Indonesia to Prabowo. One of them, he said, relates to the 8 percent economic growth target.

"In our view, this growth must be balanced with equitable wealth distribution, equal opportunities, and everyone having a chance. In our simple terms, you can be rich, but do not impoverish us," Said said.

He said that fair wages for workers, protection for migrant workers, as well as job certainty, income, and social security for the labor group will be brought to the attention of the president. He stated that his report could be considered in policy analysis.

3. Prabowo Accepts Letters of Credence from Ambassador of Friendly Countries

In the inauguration agenda on Monday, June 8, 2026, President Prabowo Subianto also received letters of credence from 8 ambassadors of friendly countries. However, the presentation of these credentials was done in a closed-door event at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta.

The eight ambassadors who presented letters of credence to the president came from the Philippines, Sri Lanka, the Czech Republic, Greece, Saint Lucia, South Korea, Palestine, Lebanon, and Saint Lucia. They are part of the 17 ambassadors of friendly countries who had to wait for months to be able to present their credentials to the president.

Deputy Foreign Minister Anis Matta said the event was held in private for technical reasons. He did not elaborate on this in detail. "(The closed event) is nothing special, just routine," he said after the process.

During the presentation of the credentials at the Palace, Anis said the ambassadors each had the opportunity to speak with President Prabowo. The forum was conducted simultaneously.

Anis said Prabowo apologized for causing the ambassadors to wait for the schedule of the credential presentation. Anis stated that the president's schedule has not aligned with the ambassadors', resulting in the postponement until now.
