KPK Awaits Case Hearing Before Deciding MBG Probe

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is still waiting for the results of the inquiry in the investigation of the alleged corruption case in the free nutritious meal program or MBG. The results will determine the next steps in handling the alleged corruption case that occurred in one of President Prabowo Subianto's priority programs.

The Acting Director of Investigation of the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, stated that their institution has been investigating the alleged corruption case of MBG in the preliminary investigation stage. However, the Attorney General's Office had already escalated the alleged corruption case in the free nutritious meal program to the investigation stage.

"Therefore, according to the legal regulations, there should be no dualism in the investigation," said Taufik at the KPK's Merah Putih Building, South Jakarta, on Monday, June 8, 2026.

Taufik explained that the KPK is currently awaiting the decision of its leadership to determine synergy with the Attorney General's Office. This is important before the KPK decides to escalate the investigation status of the alleged corruption case in MBG from the preliminary investigation to the investigation stage.

"We will develop the investigation process, whether the data will later be handed over to the attorney's office. We will wait for the outcome of the inquiry, what decision will be made by the leadership," he said.

Meanwhile, the Attorney General's Office is also investigating the alleged deviation in the MBG program conducted by the National Nutrition Agency or BGN. This investigation led to the naming of former Head of BGN Dadan Hindayana, and two former Deputy Chiefs of BGN, namely Inspector General (Ret.) Sony Sonjaya and Lieutenant General TNI (Ret.) Lodewyk Pusung, as suspects.

At the Attorney General's Office, this case originated from the investigation of alleged deviations in the governance of the MBG program that occurred throughout 2025-2026. Investigators suspected the practice of selling and purchasing points of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) in the implementation of the program. The alleged deviations resulted in state financial losses and benefited several parties.

In this case, the investigators at the Attorney General's Office suspected the suspects of abusing their authority in managing the MBG program. The Attorney General's Office is still investigating the flow of funds and parties allegedly involved in the case.

The investigators have charged Dadan, Lodewyk, and Sony with Article 603 jo Article 20 letter a or c of Law Number 1 of 2023 regarding the Criminal Code or KUHP jo Article 18 of the Law on the Eradication of Corruption.
