TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – President Prabowo Subianto said a unit of Indonesia's sovereign wealth fund Danantara has identified up to US$5 billion in potential additional state revenue after monitoring thousands of export transactions involving key commodities, as reported by Antara.
PT Danantara Sumber Daya Indonesia (DSI), said Prabowo, had reviewed more than 6,000 export transactions involving coal, palm oil and ferroalloys since it began operating in May 2026.
He made the claim during his state address at the Annual Session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) and a joint session of the House of Representatives (DPR) and Regional Representatives Council (DPD) in Jakarta on Friday, August 14.
According to Prabowo, DSI's monitoring found potential revenue gains arising from differences and adjustments in export prices.
“DSI has found potential additional revenue of US$5 billion just from differences and adjustments in prices,” he said.
Prabowo suggested the potential could grow if the government extends the monitoring system to other export commodities.
DSI is set to expand its oversight to 50 ports across 25 provinces, he said. Its monitoring will also be extended beyond coal, palm oil and ferroalloys to other strategic commodities.
Prabowo Raises Palm Oil Pricing Gap
According to Antara, Prabowo also cited alleged under-invoicing in Indonesia's palm oil exports as an example of the pricing discrepancies flagged by the government.
He said crude palm oil was previously sold at Indonesian ports for around Rp15,000 (about US$0.90) per kilogram, while the price on the Rotterdam market stood at Rp27,000 per kilogram.
“Indonesia is losing almost 50 percent of the value of its commodities,” Prabowo said.
He questioned the disparity, noting that the Netherlands does not have palm oil plantations.
Prabowo said such practices undermine Indonesia's ability to capture the full value of its commodity exports.
DSI to Expand Commodity Oversight
Prabowo said the government plans to put all strategic commodities under DSI's oversight, rather than limiting the system to the three commodities currently being monitored.
“We no longer want the Indonesian people to be cheated,” he said, arguing that Indonesia's natural resources should generate greater returns for the country.
The expansion would give DSI a broader role in monitoring commodity exports and identifying discrepancies in transactions, potentially increasing the amount of export revenue captured by the state.
