Floods Hit 16 Neighborhood Units and 10 Roads in Jakarta

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta Heavy rains that poured down on Jakarta, Indonesia, on Sunday, January 18, 2026, caused flooding in several areas. The Head of the Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Data and Information Center, Mohamad Yohan, stated that as of 7:00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time (WIB), 16 neighborhood units (RTs) and 10 roads were affected.

In North Jakarta, for example, two neighborhood units (RTs) experienced flooding, with water reaching 30 centimeters in Ancol Village and 30 centimeters in West Pademangan Village. "Heavy rains caused several areas of flooding in Jakarta," Yohan said on Sunday, January 18, 2026.

West Jakarta was the most affected area, with 13 RTs inundated. In Kedaung Kali Angke Village, eight RTs were inundated with water reaching 45–60 cm. Four RTs in Tegal Alur Village experienced 30–40 cm of water, while one RT in Jelambar Village experienced 25 cm of water.

Meanwhile, in East Jakarta, one neighborhood unit (RT) in the Rawa Terate sub-district was affected by flooding reaching 40 cm. In addition to residential areas, flooding also occurred on 10 roads:

1. Green Garden Housing Complex Street, North Kedoya, West Jakarta – 15 cm
2. Pangeran Tubagus Angke Street, Wijaya Kusuma, Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta – 20 cm
3. Pangeran Tubagus Angke Raya Street, Jelambar Baru, Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta – 20 cm
4. West Outer Ring Road Street, East Cengkareng, Cengkareng, West Jakarta – 20 cm
5. Karang Bolong Raya Street, Ancol, Pademangan, North Jakarta – 70 cm
6. Sepatan Village Street, Rorotan, Cilincing, North Jakarta – 30 cm
7. Cakung Cilincing Raya Street, Rorotan, Cilincing, North Jakarta – 20 cm
8. Daan Mogot KM 13 Street, East Cengkareng, Cengkareng, West Jakarta – 15 cm
9. Boulevard Barat Street (In front of Lotte Mart), West Kelapa Gading, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta – 15 cm
10. Industri VI Street, North Gunung Sahari, Sawah Besar, Central Jakarta – 10 cm

Evacuees have been recorded in West Jakarta, specifically in the Tegal Alur Village. Twelve families, or 29 people, are temporarily occupying the Alur Anggrek Child-Friendly Integrated Public Space (RPTRA).

The Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has deployed personnel to monitor flooding conditions and coordinate with the Water Resources (SDA) Agency, the Public Works Agency, and the Fire and Rescue Agency. A joint team, along with local village and sub-district heads, is ensuring the pumping of floodwaters, maintaining drainage channels, and providing basic necessities for survivors. The BPBD is targeting rapid flooding.
