TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's railway company, PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), has adjusted the operational schedules of the Jakarta commuter line (KRL) as floods submerge several stations today.
Bobby Rasyidin CEO said the floods hampered train operations at several stations in Operational Region 1 of Jakarta, such as Kampung Bandan, Pasoso, Tanjung Priok, and Jakarta Kota.
"The tracks are submerged in floodwater," he said at a press conference in Jakarta, Sunday, January 18, 2026, as quoted from Antara.
This condition, he said, forced KAI to adjust the operation patterns of several KRL trips, especially on the loop line in Jakarta Kota and the route bound for Tanjung Priok Station.
"But there are no problems on the Bogor-Bekasi line," he said.
Besides affecting KRL trips, the floods also canceled eight intercity trains from Jakarta. "Tonight, we will conduct operational recovery in hope for a swift mitigation," he said.
Bobby emphasized that all decisions to adjust operations are made with safety as the company's top priority. "Because it could cause a short circuit, which could lead to a wider impact and troubles," he said.
Meanwhile, KAI's Director of Operations and Marketing, Heri Siswanto, added that cancellations and diversions are still ongoing in several tracks. "We are still cancelling train trips thus far, especially on the Jakarta Kota-Tanjung Priok route," he said.
KAI is also diverting routes on several other tracks to ensure smoothness and safety of operations. "We are still diverting the tracks on the Cikarang-Bekasi route, we turn back those passing through Manggarai [station] to Angke Station. For those passing through Pasar Senen, we return them to Kemayoran Station," he said. The KRL route of Bogor-Jakarta Kota has returned to normal.
