TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - HBO is once again inviting viewers back to Westeros, this time with a very different kind of hero. 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,' the latest 'Game of Thrones' prequel spinoff, steps away from royal intrigue and dragonfire to follow Ser Duncan the Tall, a humble hedge knight navigating tournaments, honor, and survival across the Seven Kingdoms.

Based on George R. R. Martin’s beloved Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas, the series promises lighter, more intimate, and character-focused story that unfolds decades before the power struggles that would later define the Iron Throne.

First premiered on January 18, here’s everything you need to know about the series.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ Characters Profiles

As 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms' introduces a new corner of Westeros, keeping track of its growing cast can be tricky. Scroll on for a closer look of the Season 1 characters and the actors portraying them, citing from Variety and Town&Country Magazine

Ser Duncan the Tall – Peter Claffey

When audiences first meet Ser Duncan the Tall in 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms', he’s far from the legendary figure whispered about in Game of Thrones. Known simply as Dunk, he’s a tall, awkward young man still adjusting to life as a knight, especially since almost no one believes he truly earned the title.

Knighted in private by the little-known Ser Arlan of Pennytree, Dunk struggles to be taken seriously as he travels from tourney to tourney, guided more by instinct and decency than polish.

Raised in the slums of Flea Bottom, Dunk carries both humility and ambition as he travels the Seven Kingdoms as a hedge knight, determined to prove his honor, courage, and worth.

Peter Claffey steps into the role with an understated charm, following standout appearances in 'Bad Sisters', 'Vikings: Valhalla', and 'Small Things Like These.'

Egg — Dexter Sol Ansell

Egg may be small, bald, and endlessly stubborn, but he quickly becomes Ser Duncan’s most loyal, and only companion. Despite an initial rejection, Egg appoints himself Dunk’s squire anyway, proving his determination by setting up camp and cooking dinner before Dunk can stop him.

Clever, hardworking, and far wiser than he lets on, Egg brings both chaos and heart to Dunk’s journey.

Dexter Sol Ansell plays the role following his turn as a young Coriolanus Snow in 'The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes.'

Prince Maekar Targaryen – Sam Spruell

Prince Maekar Targaryen is a hardened warrior whose presence alone commands respect, even as his royal parents remain off-screen this season.

Known for his discipline and severity, Maekar plays an important role in the wider Targaryen legacy, appearing in George R. R. Martin’s 'The Hedge Knight' and echoed throughout 'A Song of Ice and Fire'.

Edward Ashley Spruell brings the prince to life, continuing his strong résumé that includes 'Fargo', 'Outlaw King', 'Legend', and 'Small Axe.'

Prince Aerion Targaryen – Finn Bennett

As the volatile second son of Prince Maekar, 'Brightflame' embodies the darker side of the Targaryen legacy, where madness can rival greatness. Finn Bennett portrays the unpredictable prince, following roles in 'True Detective: Night Country', 'Black Doves', and 'The Nevers.'

Prince Baelor Targaryen – Bertie Carvel

Serving as Hand of the King and heir to the Iron Throne as King Daeron II’s eldest son, Prince Baelor Targaryen is known for his patience and restraint. He is described as a rare voice of calm within House Targaryen.

In 'A Knight of The Seven Kingdoms,' the character is portrayed by Bertie Carvel, whose credits include ‘The Crown’, ‘Les Misérables’, ‘The Tragedy of Macbeth’, and upcoming roles in HBO’s ‘Harry Potter’ series.

Tanselle – Tanzyn Crawford

Often called ‘Tanselle Too-Tall,’ she is a Dornish puppeteer traveling with a performing troupe during the reign of King Daeron II. Warm and observant, she forms a quiet connection with Dunk among the tourney campgrounds.

The character is played by Tanzyn Crawford, known for ‘Tiny Beautiful Things’ and the upcoming ‘Assassin’s Creed’ television series.

Ser Arlan of Pennytree – Danny Webb

Ser Arlan is an aging hedge knight and the man who raised, trained, and ultimately knighted Dunk. Veteran actor Danny Webb portrays Arlan, bringing decades of screen experience from projects like ‘Alien’, ‘Robin Hood’, ‘Doctor Who’, and ‘Sherlock.’

Ser Lyonel Baratheon – Daniel Ings

Deemed as ‘The Laughing Storm,’ Ser Lyonel Baratheon is a charismatic figure, who stands as an ancestor to Robert, Stannis, and Renly Baratheon of 'Game of Thrones.' He is played by James Norton Ing, whose credits include 'The Crown', 'Sex Education', 'Black Mirror', and 'The Gentlemen.'

Ser Raymun Fossoway – Shaun Thomas

Cousin and squire to the more traditional Ser Steffon Fossoway, Raymun offers a grounded contrast to the idealized image of knighthood. He is played by Thomas, known for ‘Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children’, ‘How to Have Sex’, and ‘The Choral.’

Ser Steffon Fossoway – Edward Ashley

Ser Steffon Fossoway is a polished and ambitious knight, heir to House Fossoway of Cider Hall, and an early standout at the Ashford Meadow tourney. The character is portrayed by Ashley, whose works include 'The Lost City of Z', 'The Terror', and 'Masters of the Air.'
